Inclusive Education at Granville State School
At Granville State School, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student is valued, respected, and empowered to achieve their full potential.
We believe that diversity enriches our school community and that every child has the right to access a high-quality education in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. Our school embraces students of all abilities, backgrounds, cultures, and identities, and we work collaboratively with families, carers, and the wider community to ensure that every child feels a sense of belonging.
Our Commitment to Inclusive Education
- Equity and Access: We ensure that all students, including those with disabilities, learning differences, or additional needs, have equitable access to education and opportunities to thrive.
- Personalised Support: We provide tailored support and reasonable adjustments to meet the unique needs of each student, enabling them to participate fully in all aspects of school life.
- Cultural Respect: We celebrate and respect the rich cultural diversity of our school community, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and promote understanding and reconciliation.
- Well-being and Safety: We prioritise the well-being, safety, and dignity of every student, fostering a positive and inclusive school culture where everyone feels safe and supported.
- Collaboration: We work closely with families, carers, and external specialists to ensure that every student receives the support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our Vision
At Granville State School, we strive to create a learning environment where:
- Every student is encouraged to be curious, confident, and resilient.
- Diversity is celebrated, and all students feel a sense of belonging.
- Barriers to learning are identified and addressed through innovative and inclusive practices.
- Students are empowered to contribute positively to their community and the world.
Working Together
We recognise that inclusive education is a shared responsibility. Our dedicated staff, in partnership with families will work together to ensure reasonable adjustments are planned, implemented and reviewed in partnership with students, families and relevant professionals where appropriate. These adjustments may include, but are not limited to, supports for communication, social and emotional wellbeing, behaviour, sensory regulation, personal care and health needs, and modifications to the learning environment. Adjustments may also involve changes to curriculum delivery, teaching strategies, learning materials, assessment practices, assistive technologies, the level of adult support, and the pace or complexity of learning tasks. These responsive practices enable all students to access, participate in and engage meaningfully in the Australian Curriculum alongside their peers, while maintaining high expectations for learning, progress and achievement.
